About the Event
Join artist/blacksmith Ira Wiesenfeld on a GUIDED TOUR of the Botanical Blacksmiths exhibit and learn more about the artwork, the artists, and the art of blacksmithing.
Our last tour is offered on Saturday, March 12th from 11am - noon. Registration is not required.
Totems and tree dangles, steel animals and plants – they are all part of the Botanical Blacksmiths' exhibit on display in the historic gardens of the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park and Museum.
The exhibit features over 40 pieces of outdoor ironwork including whimsical and thought provoking sculpture, botanical art, and functional pieces such as garden benches, birdbaths, and even a sundial.
The work in the show was created by 12 Arizona blacksmiths who are all members of the Arizona Artist Blacksmith Association (AABA). AABA was founded in 1981 as an affiliate of the Artist Blacksmith Association of North America (ABANA). It has as its purpose the education and artistic development of its members in the ancient and honorable skills of metalworking.
The ironwork on display is available for purchase and can be taken before the end of the exhibit.
Participating Artists: Cathi Borthwick, David Bridenbaugh, Paul Diefenderfer, David Flynn, Bill Ganoe, Jerry Harris, Rodger “Grizz” LaBrash, Steve Miller, Samuel Rivera, James Schremp, Scott Sweebe, and Ira Wiesenfeld.
