About the Event

For thousands of years, the Indigenous peoples of the Sonoran Desert-such as the Tohono O'odham, Akimel O'odham, Opata, Apache and Seri-have relied on the land's plants for food, medicine, tools, and ceremonies. Join us for an engaging presentation on how desert plants have shaped daily life, survival, and cultural traditions.


We'll explore the many uses of iconic desert plants like saguaro, mesquite, creosote, and agave, from traditional foodways to healing remedies and basket weaving. Learn how this knowledge passed down through generations remains relevant today.
